Finally unfiltered, ‘when the rain stopped following me’, is Korean-American singer-songwriter eaJ’s first true exploration of honesty. Showcasing raw and authentic artistry across six tracks, the carefully curated EP chronicles his departure from the world of K-pop, opening a brand new chapter with the upbeat focus track, “when the rain stops”.
Marking a pivotal moment in eaJ’s career, the new EP is not only a cathartic release, but also an invitation for listeners to explore the untold aspects of personal journey of growth and self-discovery. Stripping away past barriers, ‘when the rain stopped following me’ offers a raw and unfiltered look into the experiences that have shaped the artist.
“‘when the rain stopped following me’ is my first attempt at honesty in my music. I’ve always danced around certain genres and topics due to various reasons, but after having realised the truth… I have finally allowed myself to write freely and truthfully. I’m hoping this EP makes the listener fill in the holes of questions that many people following my career have had,” eaJ explains.
Infused with catchy and powerful pop melodies, the alt-rock focus track “when the rain stops” delivers a blunt and honest reflection on eaJ’s current thoughts regarding the events that led to his departure from K-pop in early 2022.
2024 has been a landmark year for eaJ in the live arena, with his EP release following his massively successful Asia tour that included stops in Manila, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and Bangkok. Next month, he will join alt-rock giants Imagine Dragons on their ‘Loom’ World Tour.
Building on the success of his first two singles of the year, “mad”, a poignant story of betrayal and loss, and “friendly fire”, which explores the complexities of a tumultuous relationship, eaJ has also released star-studded collaborations “right where you left me” featuring renowned Indonesian singer-songwriter Hindia, which earned the coveted playlist cover for New Music Friday Indonesia and topped prominent Spotify playlists like Lagi Viral, ORG., and Pop Rising Indonesia, as well as “burn”, featuring pop sensation Salem ilese.
The singles have made significant waves across Asia, landing airtime on major radio stations such as 987FM (Singapore), Hitz (Malaysia), Tofu Pop Radio (Thailand), and Prambors (Indonesia), with the tracks collectively garnering over 6.7 million streams to date.
